Vintage Oval Wooden Basin

Sourced from Shandong Province in China, this antique oval elm basin dates back approximately 150 years to the late Qing Dynasty. Traditionally used in rural Chinese households for washing clothes, vegetables and other everyday tasks, these wooden basins were an essential part of daily life. Constructed from timber with a wide oval shape and reinforced sides, each piece shows the natural wear, markings and aged finish developed through generations of use.

Today, these antique Chinese elm basins make beautiful decorative pieces, whether placed on a kitchen island, dining table or large console. Their generous proportions and aged timber bring warmth and a sense of history to a space, styled simply on their own or filled with collected objects, greenery or seasonal decorations.
