Vintage Indian Coal Iron
Sourced from India, these vintage Indian charcoal irons were traditionally used by dhobis and press wallahs to press clothing and linens before electric irons became commonplace. Hot charcoal was placed inside the heavy iron body, with small vents allowing air to circulate and keep the coals burning.
Now collected for their sculptural form, aged iron patina and warm timber handles, each bears the marks of its working life. Style individually on a shelf or console, or group several together for a wonderfully characterful display.
